OMP were appointed by Castlethorn Construction, the principle developer, to design the new Railway station located in the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone located on a 2.5 Hectare /7 acre site 13km west of Dublin on the Dublin – Kildare railway line. This part of the rail network is being upgraded and double tracked to separate the suburban and intercity rail services.
The brief for the station was provided by Iarnrod Eireann / Irish Rail. The proposed design is a prototype station for use on all new stations along the Dublin – Kildare line. It is a 667sqm two – level train station with entrance level and platforms at ground level. The station concourse is provided at first floor level. A park & ride facility is provided immediately to the north east of the station building and is temporary in nature pending it’s incorporation into the buildings of Adamstown District Centre in accordance with the Adamstown planning scheme. A distinctive kite shaped roof structure creates visibility and identity for the station and a lightweight translucent roof covering filters suffused natural day lighting to the platforms and concourse. The station is fully operational.
