This rural village on the outskirts of a capital city has experienced substantial chaotic growth in the past few years. The local civic trust wished to see some order applied to future development in the village and OMP prepared a sustainable plan that identifies and protects the critical townscape elements that give Dunshaughlin its unique character.

The plan makes recommendations on the improvement of connections and infrastructure throughout the village, the creation of new civic spaces, the reinforcement and reimagining of existing underutilised back-land sites and the management of traffic and pedestrian movement. A series of character areas are identified as generators of development and a set of proposals to infill gaps on the Main Street and to improve the appearance of the street are included in the study.
